Everything newsrooms need to cover the launch of Australia's first professional surfing league: fact sheet, broadcast detail, imagery and quotes, built to be air-ready. Media enquiries: Jo-Jo Alpers, CMO, jojo@surfingsuperleague.com.
The Surfing Super League (SSL) is a fast, team-based, broadcast-first surfing competition touring the East Coast across the Australian summer.
Professional surfing offers very few full-time careers. Today, only a small group of Australian surfers, around a dozen, hold a spot on the world tour. For everyone else, there has never been a way to be paid, full-time, to surf at home.
The Surfing Super League changes that overnight: eight teams of six put dozens of Australian athletes on paid, equal-salary season contracts. And because the season runs just eight weekends, they keep competing on the World Tour and in every other event they choose: a new professional pathway that opens careers without closing a single existing one.
